OK, so here are pics of the baby ducks, and turkeys. They hatched the 15th. I just LOVE baby ducks!! If I could I would hatch them every month! LOL Of course, Hubby MIGHT have something to say about that!

Aww!!!! Those are to cute!!

Your potato idea sounds great. I planted two kinds of potatoes this year. A seed potato I bought in Bakersville as well as a gold store bought that sprouted in my kitchen drawer. Both seem to be doing well so far. the store potato went in really early and is in a basket like MP builds. We will see what happens.

I know you guys hate the rain but I am already having to water everything twice a day. It gets so dry here so fast.

More rain....of course! I didnt do much outside today...it is so soggy, and muddy. I did however increase the yard size for the cornishX. Tomorrow I am planning to get out there and move thier feeder, raise it so they HAVE to stand to eat, and cover it from the rain. I am thinking I will put it on some sort of "wagon" so I can move it daily...and keep the ground around it from getting too nasty. Guess I will be digging through our "junk pile" looking for wheels. Im sure there are a few in there I could use.
So, we live just 3 or 4 miles from Muscatatuck Urban Training Center. ( MUTC) Its a military instalation where they train for urban warfare. Yesterday my son told me that they are taking applications for "actors" in the next training session. See, what they do is hire locals...to play the part of Merchants, laypeople, civilians, criminals, terrorists, sick and injured...etc. They have an area set up out there built to look like areas in the mideast. Complete with "bombed out buildings" , homes, gardens, etc. Anyways...last year my sons friend was "hired" to act in this training. He "worked" for 6 days, and made $1,400. ! Tomorrow I am going down to apply for a part in this training. This next training will be 9 days, in July...and hopefully consideralbly more money. I just hope they pick me to play a part in this training. I look at it in a few ways... ONE, I will be makeing money...TWO, I will be helping in the training of our men and women that are headed out to war areas. They provide costumes, meals, drinks, and scenarios. I just hope I am NOT picked to be a terrorist, or bomber. LOL I dont think that would settle with me very well. So, wish me luck tomorrow.! :fl If I get the part...im thinking solar fence charger, and my new hog pen..and cattle pannels..and...and...Oh the possibilities!!!:D

Good luck, just! tell them you're applying for the part of "farmer"

I'm tired of the rain, too. I hate rain - but I hate snow more, so give me the rain as long as it means no white stuff!

The rain is a bummer, but I know we need it. I just need a dry weekend to work on mowing grass and planting garden.

I have 19 baby ducks too! I also have 4 call duck hens sitting nests and more duck eggs incubating. ;)

Thanks everyone. I went in today to fill out the paperwork. We was there for almost 2 hrs! So, after filling out tax forms, applications, health forms...then, go stand in THAT line..yeah, the one with 30 people in it. :/ So, we waited....and waited...and FINALLY got to the woman at the desk...she looks over the papers...fills in something, and tell us to go get our pictures taken, for our ID badges! :D Then she said...waite...and pointed to a sign, and said...can you handle that!?? The sign said...you might be asked to strip down to your bathing suit, and step through a decontamination chamber, hosed down, and redress. :/ I just looked at her and said..well..ummm, yeah, I can do that...I guess. Now I have to go buy a one piece bathing suit...you know, the kind for fat old ladies...one that will be comfortable under jeans. Thats ok, for the money we will be makeing...I can do this. :p Another woman was walking through the line, asking if there were any questions...someone asked how much they pay? ( i wanted to ask, but didnt want to ask, ya know? LOL ) So, she ruffled through some papers...and said. $11.00 an hour...with a $3.75 premium. Anything over 8 hrs a day, will be time and a half on the $11.00/hr. So, Overtime would be $20.00+/hr :D PICK ME PICK ME!!!!!!!! Oh, and funny...they feed ya a sack lunch...and water. ( most likely bologna, or PBJ) Some people will be asked to play a prisoner...go to jail, and sit there for 8 hrs. Can I bring a book!?? LOL Or my Cell phone?? LOL I seriously doubt that cell phones will be allowed. I heard one lady talking about how last year, she did this....they covered her in fake blood, and made her lay in the "street" for 8 hrs. All the while "bombs" were going off around her, men and women running around screaming, gunfire...LOL Sounds like FUN!! I can't waite till mid June...we will know something by then. So then, on my way home...traffick was stopped. We live just off st rt 50. ( yeah hwy 50 sales THIS WEEKEND) Anyways....there was a semi that drifted off the road...over the ditch, and up against the RR tracks. I think he was OK, just dozed off. This happens at LEAST once a year...if not more...on hwy 50. Now, its not winding roads...no hills..just flat with gentle curves. I dont get it. Why so many!?? Last year a truck drifted off the road, and he was going so fast, he went airborn OVER the tracks half way. The trailor caught on a telephone pole, and stopped him from going into the field past the tracks. scarey!
So I sat there about an hour, in traffic. The other truckdrivers were walking around, makeing light conversation. I was able to get a pic of the truck in the ditch still.
99_truck.jpg

I didnt see rescue there, so I dont know the details of the driver. I just hope he is OK.
Well, back outside...untill the rain comes! LOL

Oh, please someone pay me 12 bucks an hour to lay quiet in the middle of the road and do nothing all day. No nagging children, no laundry ahhhhh!!! I am so ready for that. :gig

Sorry about the traffic. When we were heading through New Mexico on the 40 we saw a semi that had nose dived into the ditch. Scary, the front was just squashed and the trailer wrinkled.

Having driven in our Freightliner practically across country it amazes me how people do not respect the size of those trucks. It takes a long time to stop those things.
