The statistic is that 78% of chronic illness is 100% self inflicted...diet related.

Start slowly....increase water, increase veggies, decrease sugar and refined carbs.

We have totally hijacked Ldy's journal! Sorry!

KC, I have no idea why, but your post reminded me that when I was little and would go swimming in a pool, my mom would tell me that there was a chemical in the water that turned pee black, so I better go potty before I got in.

:yuckyuck Why is it that everytime you get into a pool you need to pee? And everyone (fess up everyone) did it - especially as a kid. You can just sit and see it happening - they're playing hard, then get really still... Yep - yellow stream. (Sorry - I kinda got carried away) :hide

I'm also hoping the SS lifestyle will get me more active. Not happening yet...
HA! I thought the same thing!

While there is a lot of physical stuff that we do on the farm, it doesn't seem like it's really working off anything.

DH gave me a jump rope for mother's day - I used it Sunday and Monday and this morning I planned to jump some more - but it's pouring out. Anyway, I am definitely feeling it in my abdomen, though, after just 2 days of jumping rope. I'm hopeful that means it's working.

Since it's raining today, I plan to do a 5 minute session of stretches - I mean, I'm using muscles that I've not really worked with since I ran track in Jr. High and high school!

For now, my hopefully healthy goal is to drop 1 pants size by July. :fl

I have already added the water and veggies - raw fruits and veggies - but I haven't really fully cut out the sugar yet. I'm trying to limit the sugar but I'm not doing that great of a job yet.

E and I have talked about switching to honey as our sweetner. just how does honey taste in coffee?

My in-laws use only honey in their coffee. DH tolerates it. I don't care for it. A matter of personal taste I guess? I've been using Stevia in the Raw in my coffee but can't claim there's no taste to it. I've gotten used to it and now enjoy it.

I can't seem to kick the sugar habit fully either. :(

I use liquid stevia in my coffee. I blend the flavored chocolate and peppermint stevia for a good replacement to HFCS filled coffee creamer. And I usually don't add any milk/cream. The flavor is enough and I don't get that milky aftertaste in my coffee.

Hmmmm.... Honey in coffee? Well I just use turbinado, raw sugar, which I love. I tried the stevia and I am just not a fan.

I really don't have a bad reaction to sugar so for me, 2
tsps in my morning coffee doesn't seem to be a problem....keeping in mind I have cut out all other sugar aside from two fruit servings and a tsp of raw honey per day..... it is rare that I eat a sweet, bread, rice or pasta.... Which all convert to loads of blood sugar.

Careful on the fruit! Lots of hidden sugar there. You are getting bikini ready for that slip n slide aren't you?!

OK, so I have some other food questions, but I'm going to start another thread instead of continuing this high jack of Ldy's journal!
