Thanks everyone. So much comfort, wisdom and support.

The thing is, our entire family has lived with so many elephants in the living room that no one knows how to talk any more. Horrible things are said and done, there are no apologies, no honest conversations, and never, ever an apology. You have to either stuff your feelings or pretend nothing happened and then a couple of days later someone breaks the silence on some pretense and everything is hunky dory until the next episode of abuse shows its head.

My mom sometimes calls me four or five times a day. I have not heard a word from her since this thing started yesterday at 8 am.

I have not responded to any of the emails that have been flying, but the other recipients have been hitting "reply to all" and there has been quite a debate. My friends have stood up for me and made me feel so loved. My daughter is reminding me just to laugh and keep on with my life and stay mentally healthy. No other member of my family has said a word to me about the 1000 word verbal attack my sister made. They all got all the emails. My mom has not called at all in two days.

If we don't talk about it, it didin't happen. Nevermind that I was ripped to shreds in an email sent to everyone on my contact list. If we say anything, we will make it worse, and we might be the next one in the crosshairs.

Sorry, it's just getting to me tonight that no one in my family has even asked how I am doing.

Why do we expect so much from the people that are genetically related? You have "family" here Ldychef and we all care about you. :hugs

What is it with loony sisters. I think we all have one. It is when our friends stand up for us we are reminded were the normal ones. I imagine this whole situation is another elephant standing in the room. Your Mom and family will call, they are probably just trying not to get stepped on. You are obviously a very strong person. Carry on and this to shall fall to the wayside. :hugs

We have some similar stupidness in our family (hubby's family), so I can relate on some small level.

Your dd is right, don't let the negativity suck you in...it is not worth your effort! You are a bigger person than that, you see the situation for what it really is and so do your friends. Let that be enough. You have so much more to do with your time!

I used to wish for a sister or even a brother. All these horrid sisters (my dad's included) make me really, really glad I am an only child.

DD is right, let it flow past.

I read a good book the other day that said God surrounds us with unlovable people to teach us how better to love....which really explained my entire life with my family! I've been in school to learn how to love for a very long time......

When someone hurts me like this and I can't get it off my mind or out of my heart, I just pray that God takes that feeling from me...and He does. Every time. I sometimes wonder why I wait so long to ask Him for this, as sometimes I suffer through part of a whole day before I realize that I don't really have to.

We really can't help who are families are but we can self protect and distance ourselves from that source of pain as much as possible.

I'll be praying that you find the answer in all of this. :hugs
