Wow Lori....a house for Christmas! What a delima. How long will you have before you "have" to moce the doublewide? Is the land you are on now, yours? Could you possible put it there, in place of the home you are in?
You get a house for Christmas...I get a shi %%er! My septic is going in....WOOHOO!

Welll.... If I was yuns, I'd sell the double wide and look to add to the land you have now. Even if its just 10 acres, that is 3 times more land than you tos have now and you can always build up and out.

But than again, I love where I live and I have spent a lot of time and effort fixing and conditioning this place.

Good luck in what yuns decide. :pop

They have been trying to sell the doublewide for the last year. They have had lots of people interested but the banks have just not been willing to lend money to any of them. The house is in great condition, they are still living in it now. I don't know yet when it has to be moved, I hopefully will find out this weekend. We have looked at several properties and there are 2 in a neighboring county that need to be demolished but have well and septic already. Both are listed for $60,000 and are only on 2 acres. We have 3 acres here and don't want to downsize at all. Our house is stick built and is only 9 years old. There is nowhere on our property to put the doublewide, even if the county would let us. They have been trying to sell the it for $40,000 and that is with the deck (it is the entire length of the house). The guy that moved it in for them said he could move the deck too, no problem. I think the doublewide was bought new in 2003 or so, so it's not that old. I still don't know what to do. We have a really good real estate agent and I want to call her this evening when I can put her on speaker phone and Chad and I can both talk to her together. The other kink in the whole thing is that my FIL is planning on giving us land but it is tied up in liens right now. If he gives us the land then problem solved. FIL says he will go to the courthouse this week and find out what we can do. If that comes to fruition then we will sell this house and put the doublewide on a basement on that property. :fl

The weather here is so wet. It rained all night and now everything is extra mucky from the snow/rain double punch. I had to clean out the coop, rabbit hutch, and duck house this morning and it was not pleasant. I don't want to let the ducks out of their pen for fear they will tear up the yard...again.

Still no eggs from my EE, little b****. 3 months with no eggs from her. She's not that old and she hasn't lost any feather so I don't think she's in a molt. Either she's taking a break or she has a nest hidden somewhere. :rant If that's the case, I'll kill her, little hussie.

I don't want the other hens to hide their eggs too. Monday I got no eggs. I have been getting 2 or 3 daily and that is really unusual. I have 6 hens and 1 roo. I shouldn't go a day with none, ya know?

Tonka's ear is doing much better. He has 3 days of antibiotics left and the drainage has almost completely stopped. I've been cleaning it every day to keep it from getting crusty from the ooze. The swelling is completely gone and his appetite is definitely back. Charlie is fine, I let him out every morning for a run while I feed the other animals.

Doing laundry to prepare for our visit to Granny's house tomorrow. They are supposed to be putting in the flooring in the new house this week. I have not seen the house in person since construction started so I am excited to see it. She should be in by January once they get the occupancy permit.

Got all the memory cards for everyone for xmas so that is done. I have a year's worth of pictures to go through and put on there for everyone. We started this last year and it has worked out wonderfully for us. We shopped on black friday and got everyone digital photo frames and each year for xmas we have been giving everyone memory cards with each years photos of the family and they love it. I highly recommend it!. Bit of cost upfront but it cost us little of nothing to do it this year.

Just got a call from hubby, he called the county to see if we could put the doublewide on FIL's property and they said yes! He called his dad and told him what was going on and I think it kind of knocked him for a loop. He said he will get with him Friday cause he is on his way out of town today and will be back tomorrow.

Oh, please please please please please pleeeeeeeeeeeeease let this work :fl :fl :fl :fl :fl :fl

The other consideration is that mobile homes ... even on foundations ... usually DEPRECIATE in value while stick built homes increase in value. I sold Real Estate for 6 years and I would probably try to stay in the stick built house. Especially if you consider the amount of money that would be involved in pouring a foundation.

Park it at FIL's until you find a buyer - heck you could even owner finance it, charge some decent interest and make a nice bundle in the long run. If you financed it for say 5 years with a balloon at the end (meaning they would have to refinance and give you the cash at that time) it would be a good deal all around.

Also if you sold it outright you would not have to charge the same price as your MIL was asking. Ask less, sell it fast and keep the profit.

I am a little prejudiced here my sister lived in a mobile for a while and my BIL lived in a mobile for a while and they are just NOT well made no matter HOW new they are.

Don't do anything in a hurry. Take LOTS of time to look at every angle. That is why parking it at FIL's would be so good. It would give you extra time.

Well, I don't know what's going to happen now. I went off on my mother last night and who knows what that will do. I am just tired of her manipulative, controlling, dominating ways. She was wrong and I called her on it and now she's pissed. Oh well, I said what needed to be said for a long time and defended my husband and didn't cave to my mom this time. I don't care anymore. She has to stop bullying everyone.

In other news, I'm leaving for Granny's house for the weekend in a little while. She is getting a perm this afternoon so I'm taking my time.

Madelyn decided to creep into our bed last night at 3:30am with a bottle of bubble bath, which she promptly poured out in the middle of our bed and Chad rolled over into it. We had to completely strip the bed, start the washing machine, change the sheets, change maddie's clothes. I'm worn out.

Both my children are late night creepers. They like to creep into our bed late at night. We are trying to get them to stay in their own beds but it's hard when Chad has to get up at 4:30 for work every morning and I'm just too tired to care in the wee hours. I know we have to nip it in the bud but man it's tiring.

They both want us to sit with them until they fall asleep or sleep with them in their beds or sleep in our bed. Killing me. Our bedtime routine consists of bath, book, and yelling. My son got up and came down the hall for 3 hours last night, all the while Chad is asleep in his bed. I had to wake chad up to go get in our bed and let Tyler get back in his bed. Grrrrrr.

I haven't had food or coffee this morning yet....well, afternoon now. I think I'm going to stop on the way to granny's and treat myself to a big cup of joe!

Have a good weekend everyone!!!

I'm back....the whole time I was at granny's I kept rearranging my furniture in my head. :hide

I am also without both of my children. Tyler decided (for the first time) that he wanted to stay at granny's house for a couple of days and Maddie didn't want to be without her big brother so I'm childless and loving it! We are going to go Christmas shopping tonight and tomorrow I have a project to do for MP. It'll be a lot easier without the kids around. I don't know how long they will be at granny's so I am going to get as much done as possible.....and maybe take a couple of naps!!!

Chad talked to his dad about the land one county over and he called him today and told him that he would know if everything could be done by the end of the week. We are thinking of putting the doublewide on a basement and building a mudroom on the back where we would have the stairs as well. The good thing is that if we get a good return on this house then chances are that we would have little or no house payment once we get the doublewide in!!! We have also discussed ripping out the particle board that they use for the walls and putting in drywall in it's place and replacing all the moldings. A bit of expense but it would allow us to have a much sounder house and probably help insulation wise too.

So, granny is having tile wars with her contractor. We went over to see the tile when it was delivered and they had everything all mixed up and the wrong design layout for her kitchen and now she is on the warpath. She ran off the tile guys and told them "not to lay a one, until they had a meeting with the builder, and I be damned if I'm paying for a change order!"

We had the Christmas play at church this weekend and Tyler did a wonderful job. Maddie was supposed to be in it but fell asleep on a pew outside the kitchen while everyone was getting ready to go on! She was so cute. Mama said she went to pick her up and she was limp as a dish rag!

Tuesday

My husband and I had a date for the first time in ages last night.

We had an appointment with our marriage counselor (we're fine, we go to vent and maintain our sanity....I highly recommend it!) and then we went out for chinese and then went christmas shopping for the kids. Our goal was to get then presents that required NO ELECTRICITY. Both kids got hula hoops, jump ropes, jacks, stickers, books, 2 little wooden animals each, new sunglasses and a slinky. Maddie got some dress up clothes and jewelry and Tyler is getting some of my brother's old legos and 3 little bakugan transformer type ball thingies. We were so excited to get to shop together. We ended the night at starbucks and got home at 11pm! Then we collapsed

I got everything wrapped today....here's my xmas tip for parents. Color code all your children's presents. Use one for each child and that way everyone knows who gets what and no tags to make! This year maddie is getting red and Tyler is getting blue with snowmen.

Santa's presents are in green with santa on them and they are getting, to share, twister, a bowling set, and glow in the dark bracelets.

I have done dinner, chili, so the house smells wonderful! I got MP's project done and it will go in the mail tomorrow, and now I am getting ready to take care of all the memory cards for the grandparents and I will be done. I am taking it easy today and enjoying the day by myself! First time in a long time I have had a whole day without my kids. I plan on calling granny tonight to see if she is still alive after 2 days with my children :p
