I'd wear the top and the belt but the skirt would not flatter me. Too much material on someone my height, I would look like something from the Wizard of Oz. It would look nice on someone else though.
At least you wouldn't look like an oompaloompa! :gig Which is how I look when I try to wear bodysuits... :gig

Remember the olden days of the 70's anyone? When jumpsuits and one piece outfits were in style? I only WISH I had looked like an oompa-loompa! I have such a long waist line those jumpsuits always left my top half wanting for coverage! NOT modest at all.

Then we mentioned shorts. Well there are shorts and there are shorts. When I was young and truly a wild child (before I was a Christian) I would make my own cutoffs. I had to roll up the front pockets to keep them from hanging out at the front at the cuff!! Some of them had some creative cutting going on in the back as well so that I would have a back pocket. :ep :th

I still wear shorts in the summer, but MODEST ones. Nothing is ever shorter than mid-thigh and most are almost knee length (I have long legs too). Also they are cut relaxed so they DO leave something to the imagination and are usually worn with loose fitting tops.

I was asked if I only wear skirts because I'm religious. :gig

ME? Ummm... have you EVER talked to me??

I wear skirts because I have no ass and I don't know how to buy fitting pants. LOL.

I like Victorian looks (Steampunk, Lolita, and traditional) and rockabilly full circle skirt dresses. So I'm 90% of the time in skirts (either full and long or knee length and full circle or mini and pleated). I'm working on getting more things to fit me. At the moment I have about 3 outfits total.

*sighs*

OMG I love short shorts
they look best on the body! :) I have long long legs
I love cut off jean shorts too and would roll up the pockets

I still do.

I mow my lawn in a bathing suit....modest, hell no. I got it, I show it off and proud of it. Wish I was 20 again...lol...but being darn near 50 I am better than alot of 50s and more out there, so heck ya I dress to impress.

I dressed wild when younger, then dressed corporate nice for work....I did it all and had a blast. I love fashion and had $250 high heels. Now would I spend that type of money hell no but I sure enjoyed it when younger!!

When 240 lbs I hated fashion.
Lost 70 lbs and I fell in love with fashion again :bun

oh and edited to say---all my bathing suits I buy French Cut High leg. Oh yea, they make my legs look even longer! I love that....I need Long Torso and French Cut High Leg suits and WOW are they hard to find!!! :) but I search and search and get them LOL thank heavens for the net...ya can find anything! :)

Farmerchick - there is nothing wrong with looking HOT. Especially at darn near 50. Good for you!! Your hubby must LOVE it.

AnnaRaven- fashion is all about self expression. I never worried about what my offspring wore as long as I didn't get a call from the school. Piercings, blue hair? Bring it on! In the end it's about being comfortable in your own skin. Although I never had the body for a chain mail bikini, I would have worn one in a heartbeat if I did. I don't understand the modesty concept either.

Interesting discussion. I wear what I like, which can be jeans & boots for working around the house, or heels & a skirt if I'm going out someplace nice. DH & I don't discuss each other's clothing choices, which is good & bad. We went to a wedding last night, and the nicest outfit he could muster was khakis & a button down shirt. Of course, he wouldn't even tuck the shirt in! But he is a grown up, and I am not his mother, so I don't tell him what to wear. And the same goes for his input on my clothes.

While I sometimes encounter people who I wish would choose to put on more clothes when they go out, it's up to them. That being said, I do have issues with the "sexy" clothes that are marketed towards young girls. There's something truly wrong with an industry that would try to make little girls into teenagers while they are still just kids. No kids here, but my sister complains that it's impossible to find jeans that aren't lowriders so that my nieces' underwear hangs out.

LOL yes hubby likes me looking 'good' on his arm.

but hey, don't get me wrong...at 49 I am not a hottie, just I feel decent looking in sexier clothes than I did when heavier....so yea, since I feel better in flashier clothes, I sure wear them.

I'm 5'9 and 140 and wear semi short (mid thigh) shorts, but if I were 5'9 and 240 I wouldn't, not just for me, but also taking everyone else's eyesight into consideration. I'm just sayin. Beyond the girls clothing showing too much, I think it is tasteless when grown folks show too much too. I have seen BIG women in those cutoffs some of you have described, and men with uber hairy beer guts the size of beached whales hanging over their speedos IN THE STORE :th My girls are scared for life from having seen those two very memorable(wish I could forget) folks who just show too much. Modesty is about respect for self and others IMO. I don't like seeing big wrinkled sundamaged breasts hanging out of a blouse either, or folks with serious serious toenail fungus wearing flip flops. Some things ARE inappropriate to flaunt no matter your age, size, religious background, etc. Call me biased or whatever, but some things people wear are just nasty. I won't even wear sandals if my toenails are a little too long, until I clip them and I DON'T wear anything to chirch or on buisness that shows my tattoos :hu Maybe I'm just a weirdo, but it's just GROSS and/or inappropriate!

WHERE???? That is what I prefer too! 5'11" and long everywhere.

I love short shorts. And have to cut off pockets here too LOL. But now that I have hips, I've outgrown all mine. Sad panda.

I have no modesty and would be quite happy in a nudist society. But I do loves me some fashion! lol. I really really do. Valentino :love
