I attempted the whole 8 miles yesterday, but time was an issue. I got 6 done and then had to stop. I did choose a more challenging trail with long uphill treks that seemed to keep going and going. I was literally bent over my legs on my way up. Breathing so hard it hurt by the time I reached the top. The down side was fun though.

Building another chicken coop today to get an upper body workout. :)

My upper arms are all kinds of sore today. First, I had to shovel out the chicken coop (Doing the deep litter method and the litter got wet bleh) Then, I noticed the compost pile needed turning since we added a ton of wet goopy chicken litter. And finally, we broke ground, dug a few holes & mixed in fertilizer for fruit tree preparation. Then I took a shower and had a hard time lifting my arms to wring my hair... Ahhh farmergirl biceps & triceps are on their way back!

Today I did morning stretches, crunches and power walked while listening to an audio book on a PlayAway unit....that was way cool and I didn't want to stop exercising because the book was heating up..... :D

GOOD FOR YOU!! What book is it? I think that is a wonderful idea, the book on tape, cd or whatever device you have. Don't know if I mentioned that Bee, but I am so stealing your idea!

I really need to do some crunches!

The book is called The Shack. Its a new author to me, so I couldn't tell you who it is by right now.

This little PlayAway unit is no bigger than an ATM card. The library in the county across the state line has them and they are the best idea anyone's had yet!

The unit has all the buttons of a recorder or CD player but you don't have to mess with changing CDs or tapes....just plug in your earphones, slip the little unit in your pocket and GO.

Ask at your local library to see if they have them. I promised myself I won't listen to the book unless I'm exercising....and the book is starting out to be a good one!

More incentive....just a little more incentive! ;)

Our priest is reading that book with a group at church. I wasn't available at the time they were meeting so I haven't read it yet. Most of them are enjoying it, though some are finding it disturbing.

I walked with two friends out at the airport in the direct sun and heat. Blech! It's about three miles but chatting made it go fast.

Thanks for that tip! I didn't know libraries did that! WAY COOL!

Any bit of incentive helps.

IMHO the first two weeks are the hardest, but after that your body and mind begin to crave it.

ETA Walking in the heat isn't easy. Having a pal to talk with is really a great way to chat your miles away!

I walked at 6:30 am this morning.....just me, a lonely single-lane paved road and the gurgling mountain brook beside the road.... :love Shady woods, fresh mountain air and the deer were my only companions.......

Sorry....couldn't help rubbing it in..... :D
